
How to Write First Blog Post on WordPress

In this tutorial, we will cover how to create a blog post on WordPress.
During the previous tutorial, we have shown how to register the best domain and hosting. We also have taught how to install WordPress.
It isn’t so critical creating a fruitful WordPress blog. Now we will show how to create a blog post.
Let’s get start –

After logging the admin panel, you will see an admin menu. In this menu, you have an item called posts. Using this item, you can create a fruitful blog post. When you click on posts, it will disclose All Posts, Add New, Categories, and Tags. All of them will help you create a user-friendly blog post.

Using Gutenberg Create a Blog Post
Gutenberg is a modern editor introduced in December 2018. Now we will explain to you how to create a better blog post by using Gutenberg.
Adding Title and Content Blocks
The interface of the WordPress block editor is clean. At the top of the page, you will see a block that is the first block where you will enter your post’s title.

After writing the title press enter key from your keyboard, then there will create a block. In this block, you add your content. When you need another block, Press on the enter key from your keyboard.

Otherwise, when you click on the block, you will see a ‘+’ button. Clicking on it, you can create another block above the block.

There are multiple add block buttons on the screen clicking to select and add a block. You can also use a keyboard shortcut by typing ‘/’ to search and add a block.
All the elements of content wrapped in a block. WordPress comes with blocks for all common content items, including the paragraph, columns, images, gallery, embeds, shortcodes, widgets, and more.
Adding images, Videos, and Other
By adding the image block, you can add images clicking on the Upload button then select what you want to add.

To add text and image next to each other, you need to use the Media & Text. This block helps you wrap text around the image in WordPress.

Normally you may add an image with content using the gallery block.

You can display your images in rows and columns with a grid layout by using the Gallery block. Firstly, you need to add the Gallery block and then click on the upload button and select the image from your WordPress media library.

After uploading an image, you will see three align icons above the image block. When you click the left align icon, the image will be placed on the left side creating text a block on the right side.
While your gallery block is more powerful, you may need other advanced gallery features like albums, image sorting, etc. To get these features, you can use one of these WordPress galleries plugins.
Embedding a video
Do you want to embed a video in your content? Don’t you know how to embed a video in your content? No problem.
When you want to embed a video in your content, you can search Embeds block and add the block.

Then you need to copy the URL and past to the block. After that, it will embed.

Adding tags and categories
WordPress content editor is composed of various items. They help create fruitful content. Categories and tags help you organize your content into sections and topics. They also help users to find your content on the search engine. They are very useful for SEO.

The meta boxes of categories and tags are located in the right-site and under the Document settings.
Adding Feature Image
Almost all WordPress themes support featured image functionality. A feature image that carries the message of the article. It also represents the content. They mainly display on your single posts, blog archive pages, as well as on the home page of news, and blog websites.

The option of the featured image you will find in the right-site under the Document settings. To add the featured image to your content, you need to click on the ‘Set featured image’ button and then select or upload the image that you want to use as the featured image.
Adding Excerpts on Your Blog Post
The excerpt is the summary of a blog post. Most WordPress themes can automatically generate the excerpt from the first few lines of your post.
However, this automatic excerpt may not be meaningful and fruitful. So you can manually add an excerpt and, it helps you for SEO.

The excerpt box locates in the right-site under the Document settings.
Changing Post URL Slug or Permalink of Your Blog Post
WordPress automatically takes your post’s title as the permalink. WordPress is the most popular CMS. It is easy to use and for SEO.
To make it more SEO friendly, some users may want to change the permalink that has created automatically. You can change the permalink in two ways.
When you click on the post title, you will see the option to change the permalink above the title block. Another system, under the document settings you will notice tab of the permalink, and from its, you can change the permalink.

Changing Author of Your Blog Post on Your Website
In your WordPress site may have multi-author. If you want to change a post’s author, assign it to a different author on your website.
The option to change the author locates under the “status and Visibility’ tab in the right sight.
Turn Comment On/Off
WordPress has a commenting system. Any users can leave comments on your post. You can turn off comments for individual posts from the tab under the Document tab.
Pingbacks and Trackbacks
There you will notice the option to allow pingbacks and trackbacks. These allow you and other blogs to notify each other when they link to an article.
Save Draft, Preview, Publish
There are two columns in the default WordPress edit screen. In the left column, you write content and in the left column where have all posts setting including publishing options.
There are two buttons on the left side of the Publishing button. One is the Save Draft. When you write anything on the editor, the button ‘Save Draft’ takes save automatically
Another is a Preview button. Clicking on it, it will open a live preview of your post in a new browser tab.

Completing your post, you can click on the publishing button to publish your post go live.
